DECRA: stone-coated steel in tile, shake and shingle forms
DECRA combines a steel core, aluminum-zinc alloy coating, primer and basecoat with stone granules and a clear overglaze. The profile and installation method distinguish the five products in the manufacturer brochures.

| Profile | Roof appearance | Brochure installation / minimum pitch |
|---|---|---|
| Villa Tile | Rounded barrel-tile form | Direct to deck / 3:12 |
| Tile | Scalloped Mediterranean tile | Battens / 3:12 |
| Shingle XD | Dimensional architectural-shingle shape | Direct to deck / 4:12 |
| Shake XD | Hand-split shake texture | Direct to deck with concealed fastening / 3:12 |
| Shake | Cedar-shake pattern | Battens / 3:12 |
Published panel weights are approximately 150 pounds per roofing square (100 square feet) for Tile, Shingle XD, Shake XD and Shake, and 160 pounds for Villa Tile. These are panel weights; the complete assembly and existing structure still need to be evaluated.
Match color to the profile
Villa Tile examples include Capri Clay, Rustico Clay and Pompeii Ash. Shingle XD examples include Classic Cobblestone, Natural Slate and Old Hickory. Shake XD offers a different palette, including Pinnacle Grey and Antique Chestnut. Confirm the current profile-specific colors and any special-order lead time with physical samples.
Direct-to-deck and batten systems need different details
Trim, ridge ventilation, valleys, roof-to-wall interfaces and fasteners should follow the selected product’s installation guide. DECRA’s accessory range is designed around these profiles. A change from a batten system to a direct-to-deck system changes the roof assembly as well as its appearance.
DECRA publishes Class 4 impact testing and fire classifications for specified assemblies. Its brochures distinguish residential limited-lifetime terms from commercial coverage. Wind coverage described in a warranty is not the building’s design wind speed. Check the current written warranty, coastal limitations and approved assembly before selection.

Evaluate the entire coastal installation
Connect the panel choice with exposure and the supporting roof.
For a property close to salt water, review the substrate, coating, fasteners, cut edges and compatible accessories alongside manufacturer exposure restrictions. Compare material samples with nearby roof surfaces and obtain the current assembly details for the project.

Questions about this roof system
Is stone-coated steel the same as standing seam?
No. DECRA uses formed, stone-coated steel panels that resemble tile, shake or shingles. Standing seam uses long panels with raised seams and a different attachment and flashing system.
Do all DECRA products install on battens?
No. The contractor brochure identifies Villa Tile, Shingle XD and Shake XD as direct-to-deck products, and Tile and Shake as batten products. The current installation guide controls the final assembly.
